- Wall Assembly (Configuration A and B) - The 1 or 2 hr fire rated framed gypsum board wall assembly shall be constructed of the materials
and in the manner specified in the individual U300, U400, V400, or W400 Series Wall and Partition Designs in the UL Fire Resistance Directory and
shall include the following construction features:
- Studs - Wall framing shall consist of steel channel studs or wood studs. Steel studs to be min 3-5/8 (92 mm) or 6 in. (152 mm) wide
and spaced max 24 in. (610 mm) QC. Wood studs to be nominal 2 by 4 in. (51 by 102 mm) or larger and spaced max 16 in. (406 mm) QC.
(Config B) Wall framing to consist of nom 2 by 6 in. (51 by 152 mm) (or larger) wood or steel channel studs are required for back-to-back
installations.
A 1. Studs - As an alternate, wall framing may consist of double or staggered steel or wood to be min 2-1/2 in. (64 mm) or larger, spaced
in accordance with the individual U300, U400, V400 Series Wall and Partition Designs. For Config A total wall thickness to be min 6-1/4
(159 mm). For Config B total wall thickness to be min 7-1/4 in. (184 mm) is required for back-to-back installations.
- Gypsum Board* - The gypsum board type, thickness, number of layers and orientation shall be, as specified in the individual Wall and
Partition Design. The diameter of cutout made to accommodate device (Item 3) is to be a maximum of 5 in. (127mm). The diameter of
cutout made to accommodate Barri-Ring Oval device (item 3) is to be a maximum of 5.5 in. (140 mm) by 4.6 in. (116 mm).
The hourly F, T, FT, FH and FTH Ratings of the firestop system are equal to the hourly fire rating of the wall in which the firestop system is installed.
1A. Shaft Wall Assembly (Configuration C) - The 1 or 2 hr fire-rated gypsum board/stud shaft wall assembly shall be constructed of the
materials and in the manner specified in the individual U400 and V400 Series Wall and Partition Designs in the UL Fire Resistance Directory and
shall incorporate the following construction features:
- Steel Studs - "C-H" shaped studs, min 2-1/2 in. (64 mm) wide by 1-1/2 in. (38 mm) deep, fabricated from min No. 25 gauge galv steel
spaced max 24 in. (610 mm) OC.
- Gypsum Board* - 1 in. (25 mm) thick, 24 in. (610 mm) wide gypsum liner panels installed vertically. Max diam of opening is 4-1/2 in.
(114 mm).
- Gypsum Board* - One or two layers of min 5/8 in. (16 mm) thick gypsum board as specified in the individual Wall and Partition
Design. The gypsum board type, thickness, number of layers, fastener type and sheet orientation shall be as specified in the individual
Wall and Partition Series Design in the UL Fire Resistance Directory. Max diam of opening is 5 in. (127mm) to accommodate Barri-Ring
device (item 3) or a max diam opening of 5.5 in. (140 mm) by 4.6 in. (116 mm) to accommodate Barri-Ring Oval device.
The hourly F, T, FT, FH and FTH Ratings of the firestop system are equal to the hourly fire rating of the wall in which the firestop system is installed.
- Tub and Shower Valve - Single-handled tub/shower valve assembly including escutcheon plate with nonmetallic/nonferrous and stainless
steel materials connected to nom 1/2 in. (13 mm) copper, brass, iron Crosslink Polyethylene (PEX), or solid or cell core Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC),
or SDR 13.5 Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride (CPVC) supply pipes/tubes.
- Firestop Device* - Membrane protective - Prefabricated steel ring with integral firestop material. Device inserted into wall opening centered
around shower valve and held in place with the escutcheon plate. Devices can be installed back-to-back when installed in accordance with
Configuration B.
